GENERAL INFORMATION
The Masonic Lodge "Bon Accord" No. 41 in
Berne is under the jurisdiction of the Swiss Grand Lodge ALPINA (SGLA).
It works in the English emulation ritual
(see Emulation), which is restricted to Lodge meetings - there are no "conferences"
as in the majority of Swiss Lodges. As a rule, meetings take place on
the fourth Friday of the months
February, March, April,
May, June, October and November
The masonic year opens on the fourth
Saturday of January with the Installation ceremony and closes
with an end-of-year social gathering in the first half of December,
which is not an official meeting. (see Calendar, subject to alterations).
July, August and September are holiday months; however, during this
period an excursion or Ladies' Night may be organised.
Reflecting the Lodge's cosmopolitan
origins, the ritual may be performed in German, French or English, but
the usual language is German.
The aim of our masonic existence is to
promote true and genuine humanity in harmonious, fraternal surroundings.
We hope by these efforts to contribute towards the enlightenment and
development of mankind.
This involves mutual instruction and the
preservation of humanity's most important ethical and cultural values,
as well as the promotion of high ideals, the fulfilment of social
obligations, charity and fostering love at all levels.
Interested persons may contact the
representative of our Lodge, write to the Lodge address or to the e-mail
address.
